I don’t know how long fitness takes, Jen. Probably ’cause I’ve never been really properly fit myself. But good luck with it! As for going back to Uni, that sounds like a good idea, especially if you’re not inspired by what you’re currently doing.
I’m feeling particularly ‘blurrrgh’ at the moment… Just finished my 3rd shift in two days, and my body aches, especially my feet and lower back. I think I was lifting things that were too heavy for me…hmmm…it’s because I find it hard to ask for help, especially if it’s something to do with proving strength. Problem is, I’m not strong anymore. A couple of years ago, I have strong and toned arms from tennis and piano-playing, and swimming… now I’m soft.
Am also just so tired, for no good reason. Had to drive to Warners Bay a couple of times today, and after the second trip, I fell asleep in the car (after I had parked it in the garage). I just closed my eyes for a minute to listen to the song playing on the car radio, and the next thing I know, it’s half and hour later and I’m waking up because my grandmother is making noise in the room next to the garage. I wish so much my energy would return to me… so frustrated at feeling yucky most of the time.
Hopefully by the end of October I shall know if there is anything I can do about my years-long lack of energy and not-quite-right immune system. I’m having some tests done in September at WBPHospital, and the results should be back by mid-October. Fingers crossed that the doctors can figure it all out.
That’s about it for now. Better get back to finishing something for church tomorrow. Hope you’re all well, and hope to hear from you, one way or another.

the physio’s here give $6 exercise classes on mon’s and thurs’s after work and i’ve been going to them for 2 weeks. and also running/walking on mum’s treadmill when i’m at home. how long till i’m fit?
we got the treadmill for like, half price because it’s english translations aren’t so good. like, it says “paulse” instead of “pause” and “fat bun” instead of “fat burn” (or maybe it’s just trying to insult you).

My ex-singing teacher sang for the Pope during the WYD week. Mum and I taped the broadcasts so we could watch and listen to her sing. She was fantastic… sang “Were you there?” at the 9th station of the cross, and also sang “Amazing Grace” at the Papal Mass on Sunday.
Was a bit surprised at how many young Catholics there are and how devout they were. The rigidity of the service and the ritualist aspects didn’t seem to bother them, nor the male dominated structure of the institution of the Catholic Church either. I was also surprised at how the Pope was treated as if he were divine himself. I have respect for his theological learning, as I would and do have respect for any theologically learned minister or well-read and published academic. But he is still just a man. There seemed to be an adoration of the Pope that perhaps could be said to border the idolistic… it puzzled me. Do Catholics in general believe the Pope to be holier than other priests? Or have some aspect of the Divine? Have greater capacity to work miracles?
Having attended a protestant church the last couple of years, and a moderate-to-liberal one at that (the Uniting Chruch), the only person I would perhaps accord that level of adoration/divinity/etc would be Jesus if (s)he appeared on earth again.
I apologise to you Anna, Jess and possible Amanda (or your family), if I have offended any deep-seated Catholic notions about the Pope. I am just honestly reflecting and musing on my feelings and reactions to the parts of WYD that I saw on television. I am keen to hear your points of view on this.

i doubt the great atmosphere would have made up for the annoyance caused by randwick racecourse being directly between my house and my work. it’s hard enough to get to work on time by already overcrowded buses without a bunch of singing freaks taking half said buses for themselves.
don’t mind me. i’m bitter and joyless.

student comes in: “the video camera isn’t working - the screen is black”
“is the lens cover open?
“yes”
*go in to check the camera. lens cover is closed. open lens cover, then turn to student and slap repeatedly*
“YOU’RE. SUPPOSED. TO BE. INTELLIGENT”
sigh. not really.
I wish i was allowed to be physically violent.
